B) As a learner, I prefer to learn by continuous assessment. I think continuous assessment is a step by step progress that gives one course credits and so develops a better and steady habit for regular study. It also reinforces revision by remembering important tips and notes. If one’s final result completely depends on a one time examination, there is no development of the habit for steady study and all revising is pressured and stressful at the course end. Some students do well in such exam circumstances but many do not. A “one-shot” exam may not be the best way to show how well a student knows his/her subject. Personally, I would prefer to work and study continuously across the whole course even if it involves more exercises and extra hours of time.
C) Gaining knowledge by active learning gives you the opportunity to speak and test your ideas in informal group discussions. At the same time, you can hear and consider many different ideas from other students and the teacher. This stimulates more extensive thinking and imagination as well as helping you to develop flexibility and understanding for another person’s ideas. Learning in a passive situation does not permit the exchange of ideas and involves only listening and observing in a one way process. This can be a less invigorating way of learning that can depress some passion for the subject and causes some students to be more easily bored. I prefer the challenge of active group discussion during my learning.
